Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana 

✓ The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance for the construction of houses to the homeless/shack families living below the poverty line in rural areas. The selection of beneficiaries is done by the Gram Panchayat. The permanent waiting list prepared by the Gram Panchayat is published on the notice board of the Gram Panchayat. To get the benefits of the scheme, the beneficiary should be below the poverty line, his name should be in the permanent waiting list and he should have his own land for the construction of houses. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, a centrally sponsored scheme, will be implemented from the year 2016-17.

✓ For the construction of houses, Rs. 1.20 lakh will be provided in general areas and Rs. 1.30 lakh per beneficiary for Naxal-affected areas. The financial assistance of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin will be deposited in the bank/post account of the beneficiaries through the PFMS system from the state-level bank account. Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, the information from the Social, Economic and Caste Survey, 2011 will be used for the selection of beneficiaries. A National Technical Assistance Institute will be set up to provide technical assistance at the national level under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin. In addition to the house subsidy, financial assistance is provided in the form of 90/95 days of unskilled labor under the Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Scheme.
